Will of George Crossingham of Carshalton in the County of Surrey , Millwright, 1848

This is the last Will and Testament of me George Crossingham of Carshalton in the County of Surrey Millwright after my decease I give unto my Wife Sarah Crossingham All my money in the Bank of England and All other moneys that is forthcoming to me I give unto my wife Sarah Crossingham and likewise the Two hundred pounds that I lent my aunt Mercy Edwards and likewise I give unto my wife Sarah Crossingham my Bed Bedsted furniture and lining and my gold watch and silver watch and my Lathe and Tools of every discription and every thing that I am posessed of at my decease. I do hearby wish that no money to be allowed for Morning at all at my funeral.

I appoint nominate and constitute my wife Sarah Crossingham and her brother Ebenezer Cannings of Newbury Berks Executrixs of this my Will .

I hearby revoke void all other Wills and declare this writing mine and last Will and Testament this fourth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty eight – Signed by me and in the presence of the Witnesses – George Crossingham

Witnesses – James ?Clowson, Richard Allen , Robert Allen .

 

 

Appeared Personally  Robert Allen of Carshalton in the County of Surrey Linen Draper and made Oath that he is one of the susbscribed witnesses to the last Will and Testament of George Crossingham late of West Street Carshalton in the County of Surrey Millwright deceased who died on or about the twenty-fifth day of November last the said Will being now hereunto annexed and bearing date the fourth day of July last

And he further made oath that on the said fourth day of July last the said George Crossingham the Testator duly executed his said Will by signing his name at the foot or end thereof in the presence of him the Deponent and of James Clowson and Richard Allen the other subscribed witnesses thereto all of whom (to wit this Deponent and his said fellow witnesses) were there present at the same time and the said James Clowson Richard Allen and this Deponent thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and of each other – Robert Allen

On the twenty fourth day of January 1849 the said Robert Allen was duly sworn to the oath of this Affidavit before me (illegible)

 

Proved at London 26th January 1849 before the Worshipful William Calverley ….. Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Sarah Crossingham widow the Relict one of the Executors to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer  Power reserved of making the like grant to Ebenezer Cannings the other Executor when he shall apply for the same
